Challenge: Appleton Papers had difficulties to keep track of their orders and to optimize operations; SSI developed an Order Fulfillment & Trim Optimization system for Appleton.
Solution: Key processes involved demand fulfillment, yield maximization, slitter scheduling and unique processing constraint handling -which involved operating characteristics change between processing lines at API. For example, dual cores, and dual yardages on the same machine. The system implemented by SSI allowed these properties to be set by machine /process basis.
Result: Appleton Papers was able to better track their orders and optimize their operations.
